Biography
Henry Ford was born on July 30, 1863 on a farm in Dearborn Michigan. Henry Ford enjoyed mechanics at an early age. At the age of 15, Henry Ford was given a pocket watch as a gift from his father. He loved taking apart the whole assembly of the watch and reassemblying it. Henry Ford also loved fixing time pieces for his friends and neighbors, who were quite impressed with his work. At the age of 16, Henry Ford was tired of farm work and moved out of the house. He found a mechanic job in Detroit where he learned how to skillfully operate and service steam engines. In the year of 1888, Henry Ford became married to Clara Ala Bryant . He then moved back to the farm with his wife and his son named Edsel. Three years later, Henry Ford took a job at the Edison Illuminating Company. In 1893, he earned a promotion to Chief Engineer. In 1896, Henry Ford had his plans for the so called "horseless carriage," where he later constructed the first automobile, called the Quadricycle. That same year he attended a meeting with Thomas Edison, a good friend and Ex Co-Boss, where they discussed the design of a newer better model. They then designed the Model T, Ford's most popular automobile. He then started the assembly line where cars were built at a higher rate, and workers were payed $5 per day. ($100 now days)
